RECREATIONAL PILOT PERMIT

 Age

·     Must be 14 years to solo
Must be 16 years for the issue of the Permit

Medical Fitness

·     Applicant must hold a Category 4 medical (Self-declaration/family doctor) 

Experience

·     Applicant shall have acquired, in aeroplanes, not less than 25 hours flight time

·     Applicant must have a total of 15 hours dual instruction, including not less than 2 hours cross country flight time with a cross country flight of two legs of not less than 30 minutes each

·     Applicant must have a total of 5 hours of solo flight time 

Knowledge

·     Applicant must obtain not less than 60% on Transport Canada exam (RPPAE)

Skill

·     Applicant must pass a flight test with a designated flight test examiner

Privileges

·     The holder of a Recreational Pilot Permit may carry a maximum of one passenger.

·     The holder of a RPP can fly day VFR in Canada in piston powered aircraft.

·     No additional privileges with the exception of a seaplane endorsement may be added to this permit.
